Company Overview

About Camp Korey

Mission
To honor the courage, strength, and determination of children and their families living with
serious and life-altering medical conditions, and to provide them with a safe, friendly,
medically sound environment in which to simply have fun and be kids.

Campers
Each year Camp Korey serves thousands of children and families from the Northwest and
beyond. Aged 7-17, campers with a wide range of medical conditions come to Camp Korey
and take a break from being a patient to be a child. While they may feel isolated,
“different”, or restricted elsewhere, at Camp Korey children are given the opportunity to
build self-esteem, empowered to try new things- and succeed, and meet friends that can
relate to similar challenges. All Camp Korey programs are free to campers and families.

Camp Experience
Camp Korey offers therapeutic recreation adapted to the individual needs of each child.
Activities are designed so that campers succeed regardless of their medical condition, and
benefit from both individual attention and positive team support. Camp activities include a
universally-accessible ropes course (one of a handful in the country), equestrian program,
climbing wall, boating and fishing, music, theater activities, campfires, swimming, arts and
crafts, camp-wide festivals, pet therapy, and special guests. Campers are fully supported
by a team of allied health providers and well-trained staff, and are cared for in a 1:2 ratio.

Community
There are over 20,000 children in the Pacific Northwest suffering with serious illnesses that
could benefit from a camp experience—and hundreds have so far. Camp Korey is a 501(c)3
non-profit organization that functions thanks to the generous participation of volunteers,
corporations, foundations, partner hospitals, and individuals. We encourage anyone who
would like to change the life of a child or family living with illness to get involved.

Company History

History
Paul Newman founded the first SeriousFun Camp twenty years ago as a place for children
struggling with serious illness to recharge and reclaim their lost childhood. Inspired by this
model, Tim Rose and his family founded Camp Korey in 2005 to honor the life of his son,
Korey, who lost his battle with cancer at age 18. Camp Korey is rooted at the historic 818-
acre Carnation Farm, owned by the Stuart Family and part of the rich Snoqualmie Valley
history. Today Camp Korey is an official member of SeriousFun Children’s Network, Paul
Newman’s growing global network of camps.
